ETA2U participated at Innovation Convention 2014 in 10-11 March.
The Innovation Convention is an essential part of the Innovation Union flagship initiative, the European Union strategy which aims to create an innovation-friendly environment that makes it easier for great ideas to be turned into products and services that will bring our economy growth and jobs.
The Convention provides a platform to debate and inform policies that will contribute towards the building of a research and innovation eco-system in Europe that can support this objective.
José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC http://www.flickr.com/photos/innovation_convention_eu/13060289324/ , and Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, Member of the EC in charge of Research, Innovation and Science, participated in the 2nd European Innovation Convention organised by the EC. Mark Rutte, Dutch Prime Minister, was also present. The 1st edition of this Convention took place at the same location in December 2011.
In his speech, José Manuel Barroso highlighted that the Innovation Convention was the perfect embodiment of Innovation. It was ambitious, bigger and broader than the first edition. He added that it was also innovative itself in the way it was being run, with real live stories being told, and some exciting real examples of innovations on show.
The Innovation Convention 2014 will host a selection of “Innovation Showcases” featuring interactive demonstrations of exciting new ideas, products and services from a wide range of fields (3D-printing, ICT, lighting, virtual reality, supersonic transport, nanotechnology etc).
These innovation showcases are either the direct results of EU-funded research projects or have been developed by companies involved in such projects.
